Description
Tengolem Boilacid Argent Hydrochlorum is a bit odd looking for a gnome. His hair is naturally a rare brilliant silver color (hence the name Argent), but he sometimes dyes it black for "missions" into the Catacombs or Pit. Most of the time, he rinses teh remaining dye out of his hair shortly after a mission, but sometimes he leaves it in for extra shock factor. He has let his hair grow out to the point that he can keep it in a short ponytail that hangs to about two or three inches below his shoulders. His eyes are not so abnormal a color for gnomes, but they are an uncommon shade of pale ice blue. This gives Tengolem a surprisingly intense gaze and a penetrating stare. He favors blue and black for most of his clothing and accessories, both for aethetic reasons and for stealth on raids. Tengolem is paler of skin than most of his kin, adding even more contrast between his black clothing (and, occaisionally, hair) and he has long slender fingers and hands, deft from long years of spellcasting. His features are also reletively sharp, for a gnome: his nose is almost straight and aqualine and his cheekbones are high and well-defined. He doesn't carry as much excess weight as most gnomes and wizards. This is mostly due to nighttime raids against the Cult and to forgeting to eat while working on extended projects.

Personality
Tengolem is an interesting gnome, vastly different than the usual stereotype. He is more somber and sober than most gnomes except when it comes to food, science, magecraft, and combat. He enjoys the thrill of a good old-fashioned spell battle, but cares less to get to physically involved in a battle of steel. He is sometimes thought of as slightly mentally askew by his fellow gnomes and by fellow wizards alike (but evokers don't think he's so strange). Tengolem is adamant that technology and arcane magic can be combined to new and greater acheivements of man-made wonder. He particularly detests the fanatical and ignorant White Dragon Cult. He pities them because they fear what they do not understand instead of trying to learn, but only enough to make him try to show them the glory of the way of the Science Academy, often through the use of lightning bolts and magic missiles. He also is witty and cynical, quick to point out and laugh at other's mistakes, and even his own, but not in a hurtful manner. He believes that the only way one should hurt others is physically.

Background
Tengolem (pronounced Tengl-um) Boilacid Argent Hydrochlorum is a bit of an oddity for a gnome. He is not one of the illusion-favoring, prankish wizards many of his kin are. No indeed. Tengolem is, in fact, a gnome born with a gift for creation and destruction and he loves doing either and both. Specifically, creating items that can cause destruction is one of his favorite passtimes. That and destroying outright the creations of his enemies and his enemies themselves. He is one of the few Wizard enforcers of the Science Academy, leading raids against and protecting against raids from the hated White Dragon Cult.

Tengolem was born to a family of well-to-do free-lance scientists. He is the oldest of three brothers, one of which is still a baby (only 18) and the other which, Fonkin, is a musician and chief of dynamic sonics research at the Science Academy. Tengolem grew to manhood working as an apprentice under his father, who is now retired and working on independant projects in his free time. Tengolem himself now heads up the department of charged item research and the department of spell research, and he also co-chairs and sponsors his brother's department. As a junior researcher, Fonkin needed sponsorship from a senior researcher to found a department entirely for sound research. Tengolem is also on the Council for the Defense of The Academy, the group that makes all of the decisions about offensive and defensive maneuvers in the Academy.
