Description
Talin is 5'6", 135#. He wears clothes in style in the Dalelands, but his long, black hair is set in two neat braids to his mid-back, a style he has affected from a Calimshan freeman merchant he once met. He clutches a well-worn but superbly crafted and cared for shortspear, and the handle of a mandolin sticks up from its special place in his backpack. A quiver of crossbow bolts graces his thigh.

Personality
Talin has a way with people. He is outgoing and jovial, and people seem inclined to like and trust him. He grew up listening to stories from his parents and older siblings about life as a slave in Calimshan, and while Talin's earliest memories are of the Dalelands, those horrible stories affected him deeply. Personal freedom is perhaps the thing he values most. Talin's flaw is that he is still young and full of passion, and poorly equipped to control his emotions - when he is happy he is the happiest person on Toril and when angry, the world is surely coming to an end. He has come through the forge of certain death however, and that has somewhat tempered this flaw, leaving more room for his charismatic side to shine. The loss of so many friends has also left a darkness on his soul, and his songs occasionally now include dirges and tragedies.

Background
Talin and his family, originally slaves in Calimshan, escaped during the Time of Troubles. The family found the Western Heartlands too close to slave hunters for their comfort, and eventually found themselves in the Dalelands, starting anew. While Talin's family has continued as farmers, their lot in life as slaves, Talin himself discovered some huge aptitude for song and tale. He also had a way with people, finding information and amusing people for money - more money than his farming family ever dreamed of. Where they could earn a silver coin per day, perhaps, Talin often came home with up to a gold each day, and quickly took the attention of a professional bard, who quietly showed Talin the ropes of being a bard.

Talin has escaped his fate however, and become an adventurer rather than a farmer - there are more songs to sing about in a life of adventure than one of tilling soil... He has been rewarded with 50 acres of land from Randal Morn himself, part of 400 acres granted to his group.

With recent events, his group has become known as The Sword of the Dales. Talin has gotten approval for a unique coat-of-arms for the Sword of the Dales, and Talin has created one that encompasses all the events up through the liberation of Randal Morne and the defeat of the Orc army.

Talin's Will: If Talin dies, all his gear is to be sold (to party members first, then to who ever). Half of the proceeds are to be divided among the party, a quarter to go to the Freedom Riders via Minx, and a quarter to go to Talin's family. Talin carries a will to that effect, but tells no one.
